Project Type: Town Planning
} ?>The Salvation Army Norwest Community Hub redevelopment project on Edwards Road, Nelson, involved transforming an existing facility into a modern, vibrant space aimed at fostering community connection and social benefits for the Hills Shire.
Guided by community-led principles, the design emphasises inclusive environments, including a lush community garden to promote wellbeing, dedicated spaces for local engagement and gatherings and an inclusive children’s playground. Town planners from ADW Johnson, including Ben Rankmore and Adam Crampton, collaborated with i2c Architects, the Salvation Army team, stakeholders and The Hills Shire Council, to navigate the approval process. A key contribution from ADW Johnson was successfully negotiating with Council to prioritise enhancing the quality and functionality of the community facility, over extensive civil infrastructure works requests.
