Landscape Masterplan, Visual Impact Assessment and Urban Heat Assessment to inform rezoning of 54ha of Rural Zoned Land

ADW Johnson was engaged by Harrington Estates to support the rezoning of 54ha of land within Catherine Park through planning advice, an integrated landscape masterplan, visual impact assessment, and urban heat analysis.

The Landscape Masterplan established a network of local parks, green corridors, and shaded pedestrian and cycle links to support community wellbeing, biodiversity, and long-term resilience for residents of over 900 dwellings.

The green cover was then assessed within a supporting Urban Heat Assessment which undertook a quantitative analysis of the proposal’s land use, canopy and green cover with relevant policies, ensuring cooling measures were embedded into the indicative layout and landscaping from the outset.

A Visual Impact Assessment was prepared which combined GIS-based reverse viewshed modelling, visual catchment mapping, and on-ground photography to identify key viewpoints and understand the site’s visual relationship with its surroundings, particularly nearby heritage-sensitive locations.
