Basins C and V6 Jordan Springs

2 regional constructed wetlands that service the St Marys Development Site and within the Wianamatta Regional Park. Basins service as water quality and detention basins. Basins include water level control, high flow bypass and weir, maintenance facilities and features a wildlife refuge in each basin.

As the lead civil consultant, we prepared the initial concept designs for development approval, including water quality modelling, reporting and managing sub-consultant rpeorts. Working closely with the planners and Penrith City Council, having secured Development Approval, ADW Johnson then prepared construction drawings, tender packages and prepared the tender assessment. Further ADW Johson provided ongoing design support through the entirety of the build, which was completed in 2025.

Design elements:

• The basins have a combined area of over 3 ha, which an urban catchment that exceeds 110ha.
• The delivery of each basin enabled the decommissioning of four temporary basins.
• Each basin features a berm to divert high flows away from planted wetlands. The perms also act as wild refuge for local fauna.
• Export of site material was carefully planned and coordinated between ADW Johnson, the Contractor, client and superintendent.
• The project included over 200,000 plants
• A good test of a basin’s success is the sighting of local wildlife. There is not shortage here, with records observing Eurasian Coots, Pacific Black-Ducks, Australian Wood-Ducks, Purple Swamphens, White Ibis, Masked Lapwings, Black-fronted Dotterels, and White-faced Herons, Goannas, Emus, Kangaroos, and Black and Brown Snakes!
