Attention senior urban designers who are craving a new challenge and wanting to take the lead on growing a sector within a highly successful and established business!
We are a privately owned company that’s been in operation for over 40 years and work with many of Australia’s leading developers, along with Government Agencies and Authorities. We have a team of over 125 staff, with office locations in Sydney (Barangaroo), Central Coast (Tuggerah) and Newcastle (Warners Bay). We work on a range of development typologies, often getting involved in the acquisition phase, where we help develop the vision for the projects through our urban design work. Unlike traditional urban design companies, our team also services the project all the way through the development phases to final delivery, meaning we have a succinct understanding of how areas are built and regularly get to see our initial visions come to life.
The Opportunity
As part of our growth, we’ve been requested by clients to undertake an increasing amount of urban design work on projects and due to this workload, are seeking an experienced, confident and knowledgeable person to join our team.
The opportunity will also involve business development and governance, in which you will be supported by our wider senior management team and administration staff – allowing you to focus on key areas and not get bogged down in micro details and reporting.
Due to our longevity and strong relationships within industry, we have multiple opportunities to secure increasing amounts of urban design work, though would also like you to bring some opportunities to the company too.
You will also work side by side with our landscape architectural team, allowing you to bring this detail into your urban designs with confidence and further strengthen the vision documents.
The Role
You will be our lead senior urban designer, responsible for growing this arm of our business – including hiring of additional staff to support you.
In the interim, you will likely also be required to be ‘hands-on’ and deliver urban designs and associated reports from start to finish – this will also involve creation of template documents/styles and the like.
You will be supported by a large amount of senior staff who will assist in winning work for you and your team, along with introducing you to clients and developing your network/stakeholder relationships.
Skills and Experience
The skills and experience we are after are:
- A degree in urban design, architecture or landscape architecture (or equivalent);
- Experience across a range of different project sectors and types of development;
- 10 years’ local experience is highly desired;
- Proficiency in AutoCad, Photoshop, InDesign, GIS packages and Revit;
- Strong attention to detail and ability to produce high quality documentation;
- An understanding of NSW planning codes and processes;
- High level communication skills, written, verbal and graphic;
- A positive attitude and enjoy working in teams!
