At ADWJohnson, we recently had the privilege of working on an exciting and challenging surveying project on the breathtaking Lord Howe Island, a UNESCO World Heritage-listed paradise located in the Pacific Ocean.

Our task? Conducting a comprehensive detail survey within the island’s hotspots and mapping out parts of the coastline. This survey will assist in future planning and infrastructure improvements, ensuring continued accessibility and environmental preservation.

Overcoming Challenges 🛠️
Surveying in a remote island environment always comes with unique challenges. Transporting and setting up equipment required careful planning due to the island’s logistical constraints. Additionally, working within the island’s lush vegetation and rugged coastal terrain demanded precision and adaptability from our team. Despite these hurdles, we successfully delivered accurate and reliable survey data to support the project’s next stages.

Surveying by the Sea 🌊
With the sites located near the water, our team had the incredible opportunity to work in one of the most picturesque settings imaginable. Balancing the technical demands of the project with the dynamic coastal environment required a strategic approach, but the stunning backdrop of turquoise waters and towering basalt cliffs made it a truly rewarding experience.

Island Experience 🌟
Beyond our work, the natural beauty and unique experiences of Lord Howe Island made this trip unforgettable. We were lucky enough to witness the island’s diverse wildlife, including the rare Lord Howe Island Woodhen and vibrant marine life within the world’s southernmost coral reef. In our downtime, we explored scenic walking trails and cycled around the island’s quiet roads.

Late nights in our makeshift office and days filled with adventure made this project a highlight for our crew. We look forward to future opportunities to contribute to projects in this remarkable location!
